Hot on the heels of Halloween comes one of the best months of the year: November. To me, November is the perfect balance of fall and winter. You get to break out your cozy sweaters, perfect your topknot, and eat pumpkin flavored everything. What could be better?
Boots! We get to wear our boots! Why is dressing so effortless when you have a new pair of boots? October is when I feel like sleeping instead of showering and want to wear a winter hat all day and call it fashion, but I can’t because it is over 80 degrees. Suddenly, one morning you wake up and it is November and it’s time to start fully incorporating winter accessories into your wardrobe. Just like that, the weather (and the calendar) has spoken. Getting up and getting dressed just got so much easier.
We have just enough of a seasonal change in climate that we get to watch the beautiful colors change. Golden and rust leaves and those beautiful purple wildflowers herald the beginning of the thankful season.
Arguably, the greatest thing about November is Thanksgiving. Family, friends, and food. It’s delightful to gather, give thanks for our many blessings, and stuff our faces with delicious-ness. More days should start with a parade and end with pie.
After the feast, it is officially time to get your shop on. Pundits are telling us that our supply chain is breaking (if not broken) and that gifts will be hard to find. But if we are creative, we can get this done. What better reason to shop local and find just the right, unusual, unique gift for everyone on your list?
My favorite part of November? Trim the tree! Deck the halls! The moment you swallow your last bite of pumpkin pie, it’s officially time to decorate for Christmas. Heck, start when Santa drives by in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, because, for one – there will be a parade this year, and two – it is time for the Christmas spirit. Your world will soon trans-form into a winter wonderland of lights!
If you’ve already been doing it inside your earbuds in secret, who am I to judge. But now, you can let your Christmas flag fly! Turn up “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and blast that radio station that only plays Christmas music. ‘Tis the season!
We are thankful for you – our readers, and hope you enjoy our November issue. Now get out there and enjoy November before it’s over!
