The City of Hattiesburg announced the line-up of live music set to perform and the poster for the upcoming Midnight on Front Street annual celebration. The Big Fun Brass Band, Taste of 59 South, DJ Kujho and the Hattiesburg High School Choir are all slated to perform, and the poster design chosen for this year was submitted by Hattiesburg Publishing’s own Crystal Gordon.
A resident of downtown Hattiesburg, Gordon created the graphic design artwork in her signature style of illustration. She incorporated references to the train depot, Pocket Museum, both universities and the architecture of downtown buildings in her colorful rendition of the event.
“I live right smack in the middle of the event, so it’s very personal to me,” said Gordon. “Everything in the poster is what I consider to be my backyard, so it was really fun to do.”
“We are so pleased and proud of Crystal,” said Christina Pierce, publisher of the Pine Belt News and Signature Magazine. “She's won so many awards for ad and page design for the Pine Belt News and Signature Magazine, and it is very gratifying to see her work celebrated outside of work. We always knew how talented she is, now the whole Pine Belt will know.”
