FestivalSouth®, Mississippi’s only multi-week, multi-genre arts festival, invites local singer-songwriters to participate in a one-of-a-kind creative competition: Art, Song, Poetry. Participants will have the opportunity to write and perform an original song inspired by a captivating painting by local artist and FestivalART Coordinator, Andrea Kostyal, which will be on display at T-Bones Records & Café from May 27 to June 19.
This imaginative fusion of the visual, literary and musical arts invites artists to interpret the painting in their own creative voice. Photos of the painting are allowed to help with the songwriting process, but we encourage you to stop by and experience the artwork in person.
Submissions are due by midnight on June 17 and must include both an mp3 audio file of the song, as well as a copy of the lyrics. Entries should be submitted at FestivalSouth.org.
Those who are selected as finalists will perform their work live at T-Bones on Friday, June 20 at 6:00 p.m., where the winner will be announced following musical showcase. The winning artist will receive a cash prize of $250.
