Every area baseball team in Lamar and Forrest counties won their opening-round playoff series. Notably, North Forrest won in the first round for the first time since 2010.
The MHSAA's Class 5A, 6A and 7A playoffs will start this week. In Class 7A, Oak Grove will face Biloxi and Petal will take on Gulfport in the opening round. In Class 6A, Hattiesburg will face George County. The MAIS postseason also begins this week with Presbyterian Christian will face Hartfield Academy in the first round of the MAIS Class 6A playoffs. In MAIS Class 3A, Lamar Christian will take on Porter’s Chapel in the first round.
