PHOTOS: Sacred Heart clinches playoff spot with doubleheader sweep of Salem


The Sacred Heart Crusaders swept a doubleheader with Salem Friday night, which allowed them to finish third in Region 8-1A and clinch a playoff spot. They won the first game 7-1 then capped off the night with a 6-3 victory.

Luke Hicks pitched a complete game two-hitter in the 7-1 win, and Ewan Robinson and Luke Wiest each had two hits. In the nightcap, Ryan Gerald struck out 10 in a complete game performance, and the Crusaders’ bats scored five runs in the fifth and sixth innings to come back and win.

Sacred Heart doesn’t have any seniors on the team either and only four juniors.
