Petal brings the thunder as the Panthers defeat rival Oak Grove.

The annual Oak Grove-Petal rivalry game was one for the books. A slight chance for rain turned into a deluge with thunder, lightning and more than a two-hour weather delay at Warrior Stadium.

But the visiting Petal Panthers didn’t let the weather dampen their momentum as they improved to 6-1, knocking off rival Oak Grove 21-7.

The Forrest County AHS Aggies got back to solid defense and ball control as they beat Northeast Jones 14-3 Friday. Starting district play this week is a way to wipe the slate clean and make a playoff push. And coming off a win provides big-time momentum for the team.


QB Abraham named offensive 'Player of the Week'

Southern Miss quarterback Jack Abraham earned the Conference USA Player of the Week honors for his role in a 31-13 victory over UTEP last Saturday.

The redshirt junior threw for a season-high 351 yards passing and three touchdowns passes on 19-of-28 attempts, including a 74-yard scoring strike to De’Michael Harris.



Bobcats hopes to keep momentum moving forward

The Sumrall Bobcats look to keep things moving forward as they travel to Greene County Friday night. This will be the first district game for the Bobcats, and they look to carry the momentum of last week’s win over Newton County forward.
