Tough road game ahead; USM facing division foe

Preseason predictions had North Texas, Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech to be the top three football teams in Conference USA’s West Division.

Last week, Southern Miss (4-2 overall, 2-0 C-USA) handled North Texas 45-27 to sweep aside one of its primary rivals.


6-1 Petal hits the road to NW Rankin

The Petal Panthers sit atop the 6A Region 3 standings with four games remaining in the regular season.

Many have looked past Petal during the season, but with quality wins against No. 4 Brandon and No. 9 Pearl, the Panthers have proven they belong in the conversation as one of the best teams in the state.


Lumberton perfect in region play

The Lumberton Panthers are on a five-game winning streak and look to keep things rolling as they face the Richton Rebels Friday night.

Junior running back Robert Henry led the way for the Panthers Friday night with 11 rushes for 202 yards and six touchdowns as Lumberton cruised past Salem 69-6.





Sumrall, Purvis ready for battle of 589 as game is moved to Thursday.

The Sumrall Bobcats will host the Purvis Tornadoes in a key district game Thursday evening and the Battle of 589. The Bobcats are 3-4 on the season and are looking to get things back on track with the home game. Losing to Greene County this past week, Coach Shannon White is focused on the task at hand.
