Presbyterian Christian School’s C.J. Buckhalter and Cameron Shaw didn’t know each other a few months ago. C.J. was entering the summer before his sophomore year on the Bobcats’ football team, while Shaw was making the move from Fort Worth, Texas, to Hattiesburg.

Well the Bulldogs did just that in a 52-33 shootout win over Oak Grove in a crucial Region 3-6A matchup at Bulldog Stadium on Friday night.
For the past couple of seasons, the Lumberton-Resurrection has decided the Region 4-1A district champion. Even though Resurrection (4-5, 3-1) lost to Stringer in a high-scoring affair, Friday night’s contest should be no different than years past.
Friday’s win over Lawrence County was the type of offensive output Purvis coach Perry Wheat has been wanting to see for all season. The Tornadoes racked 455 total yards of offense, which was led by a ground attack that had 353 yards.
The 50th Sanderson Farms Championship, as it is now known, will be played next week at the Country Club of Jackson. This is truly amazing when you think about it – and that this tournament has survived.
HATTIESBURG – Southern Miss redshirt junior running back Tez Parks enjoyed a bit of a breakout game in last Saturday’s 24-0 shutout of UTEP.
Parks, the LaGrange, Ga., native, missed the first three games with an injury and had seen limited duty in his first two games back with 17 yards on five carries.
