Poetry in Print: Love on New Year's

By BILL MCCLOUD,

New Year’s folklore says
on the eve to fill your
pockets with coins and
your cupboards with food

and if the new year
comes in this way it
will provide abundance
for your family this annum

So if we fill our hearts
with love on the eve
of the new year then
love will be in abundance

Call it a resolution or prayer
a hope or even superstition
but it has its own great power
when we but speak the word
