Farmer’s Market returns May 18

A variety of vendors will be on hand at the next Farmer’s Market, Saturday May 18.  

The April 20 market could not have had more beautiful weather or a more enthusiastic crowd. 

This year marks a new location for the market. The market is still in downtown Petal, but has moved from Central Avenue to 128 S. Main St.  Main Street will be closed to through traffic from 7 a.m. until noon.

Parking is available at several businesses that are closed on Saturdays such as Petal Family Dentistry, Pinebelt Dermatology, Panther Credit & Regions Bank and the old Rite Aid building. Attendees are asked to refrain from parking in lots in which the business is open and to park in the designated parking areas.

State Auditor to be guest speaker at May 8 Luncheon

Mississippi Auditor Shad White will be the guest speaker at the Chamber’s next Lunch & Learn from noon-1 p.m. May 8 at the Petal Civic Center.

White grew up in Sandersville. After attending public school, he earned his undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Mississippi. He studied as a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford, earning a master’s in economic history. He holds a law degree from Harvard Law School. On July 6, 2018, Governor Phil Bryant appointed him the 42nd State Auditor.

Chamber members are encouraged to attend and bring a friend.

2nd Annual Star Spangled Celebration Preparations

Thanks to our generous sponsors, Coca-Cola, The First, City of Petal, City of Hattiesburg and Forrest County Board of Supervisors the 2nd Annual Star Spangled Celebration on the River is scheduled for Wednesday, July 3 from 6:00-10:00 pm.  There will be live music, food vendors, kid’s inflatables, and more at the Petal River Park and Hattiesburg’s Chain Park, culminating in a grand fireworks display at 9:00.
