A 57-year-tradition continues Saturday, Dec. 1, when The Kiwanis Club of Hattiesburg and Hub City Kiwanis Club holds its annual Pancake Day. The two clubs have sponsored this event annually since 1962.
Set from 7 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Sigler Center, 315 Conti Street, Hattiesburg, (next to Hattiesburg High and the Old "Y"), ticket prices are just $5 and will get you a tasty breakfast.
According to Hugh Bolton, a member of the Hub City club, the goal of this joint effort is to raise $10,000 through ticket sales and corporate sponsorships. All of the money raised at this event is donated to needy children's projects.
The Hattiesburg Kiwanis Club and Hub City Kiwanis Club have been in existence more than 90 years and 55 years, respectively.
Previous funds raised from Pancake Day have been used locally to support DREAM, the Woodley Backpack Program, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Dubard School for Children and Language Disorders, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, defibrillators for local schools, Hope for Hattiesburg, Dixie Youth Baseball and others.
Corporate Sponsorships are still available.
• Gold Level: $500 donation and up to 75 complimentary tickets
• Silver Level: $375 donation and up to 50 complimentary tickets
• Bronze Level: $250 donation and up to 25 complimentary tickets
Each sponsor will have its name posted on display as people enter the Sigler Center
