Hattiesburg Police and Department of Human Services responded to a welfare check of two juveniles at Jacksonwood Court Apartments on Tuesday, June 4.
As the investigation progressed, Hattiesburg Police charged two individuals with felony child abuse on Wednesday, June 5.
Daniel Peeples Jr., 41, of Hattiesburg, the victim’s father, was arrested and charged with one count of felony child abuse, and one felony count of child neglect.
Carol Rounsaville, 47, of Hattiesburg, the girlfriend of the victim’s father, was arrested and charged with one count of felony child abuse.
The juveniles were placed in protective custody, and the investigation is ongoing. Both suspects were booked into the Forrest County Jail.
