Black History Month: USO busy planning kick off event for a busy February

The African American Military History Museum will be hosting a new exhibition - Shaping America: African American Women in the Armed Forces and Beyond.

The kickoff event is set for January 30 at 10:00 a.m., at the historic USO, located in the heart of the Sixth Street Museum District.

We may, but we may not, so we're not out of the woods yet. After all, January and February are often the two coldest months of the year in Mississippi.



Services held for George Boone, third-generation owner of Dews & Sons

George C. Boone, a third-generation owner and Vice-President of Hattiesburg’s C.L. Dews & Sons Foundry, died Jan. 6, 2020.

He was 73.

Boone was a founding member of the board of directors at the Forrest County Multi Purpose Building and a former board member of Forrest General Hospital.

Buckhalter, Shaw families are teammates on gridiron once again, this time for PCS

Presbyterian Christian School’s C.J. Buckhalter and Cameron Shaw didn’t know each other a few months ago. C.J. was entering the summer before his sophomore year on the Bobcats’ football team, while Shaw was making the move from Fort Worth, Texas, to Hattiesburg.
