Doleac signs with Sony: Hattiesburg native, USM baseball standout inks contract with Arista Nashville

Hub City singer/songwriter Adam Doleac signed a contract Tuesday with Sony Music Nashville on the Arista Nashville imprint.

Doleac's "Famous," which he co-wrote with Andy Skib and Bobby Hamrick, will officially ship to country radio as his first Arista Nashville single on Dec. 16.

Hattiesburg has five “B” rated schools for first time ever

The Hattiesburg Public School District is excited to have five of the district schools receive a “B” rating in this year’s Mississippi Statewide Accountability System. Grace Christian, Hawkins Elementary, Thames Elementary, Woodley Elementary and Burger Middle School were all named High Performing Schools.

When I was a kid, there were very few residents of Hispanic origin here in Hattiesburg. We were a city of, basically, blacks and whites. I had a couple of Asian-American classmates at Hattiesburg's Blair High School, but all in all, ours was not much of an international city. Boy, has that ever changed.
