A Vision for Veterans: USM grad eyes Hattiesburg-based retirement community for those who served

She was mostly raised by her great-grandmother and her Vietnam War veteran grandfather. Now, she wants to open a retirement home for elderly veterans.

Her name is Amber Travis. The name of the facility will be Grace’s Home of Heroes.

Days long ago, before the Internet, "Googling" a subject meant looking it up in my family's World Book Encyclopedia. (Oh, how I loved those white-clad volumes.)

REVIEW: Book offers spirited claim 1999 was film’s best ever

Everybody’s entitled to their opinion, especially when it comes to the movies. Somewhere out there is a person, maybe even two, whose all-time favorite is “The Boy Who Could Fly.”

So, if culture writer Brian Raftery wants to argue that 1999 was the best movie year ever, let him go for it and enjoy the ride.
