Southern Miss students adjust to virtual classes following campus close

On March 12, Southern Miss President Rodney D. Bennett sent out a message providing updates about how COVID-19 will affect Southern Miss operations.

According to the message, spring break has been extended until March 27. Classes will resume March 30 in an online or remote delivery format for the rest of the semester.

That prediction reigned true as Childs put together another season in the books that helped earn the honor of PineBeltSPORTS Girls Soccer Player of the Year for the 2019-2020 season.

Petal restaurants, bars limited to carry-out, drive-through or delivery

Following shortly behind similar declarations issued by officials in Forrest County and Hattiesburg, Petal Mayor Hal Marx has declared an emergency declaration restricting all city restaurants, bars and nightclubs to take-out, pickup or delivery only, along with restrictions for certain other establishments, until further notice.
