Andrews resigns from Mississippi House amid quarrel with Gunn

Representative Billy Andrews of Purvis has resigned from the Mississippi House of Representatives, about two months after indicating Republican House Speaker Philip Gunn is going against state law by blocking him and other members of the Legislature from receiving their state government pensions while serving in the House.





Supervisors: Pop-up restaurants may temporarily operate in Lamar County

The Lamar County Board of Supervisors has adopted a temporary order that will temporarily allow pop-up restaurants to operate in the county, making it easier for residents to get their meals during the COVID-19 pandemic that has forced the closure of dining rooms throughout the area.

HHS hosts transition fair for special needs students

As one of about 150 area students to participate last week in Hattiesburg High School’s inaugural Special Needs Transition fair, HHS senior Darius Gardner had the opportunity to experience job skills, learn about introducing himself to other people and get information regarding colleges and jobs in the fast food industry.
