State health department issues new recommendations for face masks

Given the rising number of cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and the increased risk of exposure to both the health care provider and the patient, the Mississippi State Department of Health now recommends that health care workers wear a face covering, either manufactured or an appropriate cloth mask, throughout the workday.

Following the recent swearing-in of new sheriff and administration, officials from the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office have developed a new website designed to improve transparency and allow citizens and staff better access to matters regarding the sheriff’s office and jail.

There are now six presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi, including three cases in Forrest County, according to state health officials.

The first Forrest County case was identified Wednesday night, and the two additional cases in the county were announced Friday.

1,200 friends gather for annual festival in Town Square Park

The Downtown Hattiesburg Association, along with 1,200 of its friends and visitors, celebrated the craft beer industry on Saturday at the seventh annual Hattiesburg Craft Beer Festival in Town Square Park.

Presented in partnership with Corner Market, the 2019 festival saw a growth in attendance, offerings, and excitement.
