Lumberton on to South State with dramatic win against Leflore County

The Lumberton Panthers are heading to the South State Championship after defeating Leflore County in a nail biter Friday night.

In a game that see-sawed back and forth with five lead changes, Lumberton’s defense again stood strong late in the game to give the Panthers the 29-28 win in dramatic fashion.


Donation of former McDonald’s building not so ‘golden’

The fate of the former McDonald’s building on East Central Avenue in Petal is still up in the air, at least for the time being.

The Petal Board of Aldermen voted Tuesday to deny owner David McKellar’s proposed donation of the property to the city, with Mayor Hal Marx suggesting the city would have no use for the building.

The Wind Up: A busy season includes filming season five of ‘Palate to Palette’ and completing our fifth book

NAPLES, ITALY - Wyatt Waters and I have just finished leading two tour groups through Rome, The Amalfi Coast, and Naples.  In addition to filming season five of our television program “Palate to Palette,” Waters and I are also completing our fifth book, and the final paintings for that project have been done over the past couple of weeks.


Sumrall, Purvis ready for battle of 589 as game is moved to Thursday.

The Sumrall Bobcats will host the Purvis Tornadoes in a key district game Thursday evening and the Battle of 589. The Bobcats are 3-4 on the season and are looking to get things back on track with the home game. Losing to Greene County this past week, Coach Shannon White is focused on the task at hand.
