It's a New Year, and just because much of the Deep South experienced summer-like temperatures during the Christmas holidays doesn't mean we're gonna have an early spring. We may, but we may not, so we're not out of the woods yet. After all, January and February are often the two coldest months of the year in Mississippi.


Services held for George Boone, third-generation owner of Dews & Sons

George C. Boone, a third-generation owner and Vice-President of Hattiesburg’s C.L. Dews & Sons Foundry, died Jan. 6, 2020.

He was 73.

Boone was a founding member of the board of directors at the Forrest County Multi Purpose Building and a former board member of Forrest General Hospital.


WATER BLESSSING

Members of the Holy Cross Orthodox mission gathered on the banks of the Leaf River near Eastabuchie Sunday afternoon to observe the Orthodox Christian Tradition of blessing local bodies of water. 

This blessing is in conjunction with the celebration of Theophany which among western Christian traditions is known as Epiphany.
