East Hardy bridge construction slated for summer

It will only be a matter of months before construction begins on a new East Hardy Street bridge.

A proposed layout for the new bridge was presented to the Forrest County Board of Supervisors Monday. The new structure will replace the almost 70-year-old bridge connecting East Hardy Street in Hattiesburg and South Main Street in Petal.



Hattiesburg parade, tree lighting Thursday, Dec. 5

On Thursday, December 5, the City of Hattiesburg will kick off the Christmas season with the Hattiesburg Jaycee’s 69th annual Christmas Parade and the city’s Tree Lighting event at Town Square Park.

The theme for this year’s parade is Miracle on Main Street and will feature bands, floats, walking groups, beauty queens and much more.

School of Rock: Sacred Heart’s CenterStage performance Nov. 14-16

Sacred Heart Catholic School’s CenterStage students taking part in this weekend’s School of Rock have had quite the learning experience. In addition to memorizing their lines, the songs that go along with them and finding their place on stage, they’ve also had to learn to play an instrument.

INAUGURAL CLASs: Foundation announces 14 HPSD Hall of Fame members

Fourteen distinguished alumni of Hattiesburg’s city schools will be inducted into the inaugural HPSD Foundation Hall of Fame during a two-day event Oct. 4-5.

Inductees for the first-ever Hattiesburg Hall of Fame class come from the fields of business, politics, education, medicine, entertainment, journalism and sports.
