No. 6 Pearl River routs No. 1 LSU-Eunice to win Region XXIII Title

FULTON — When No. 6 Pearl River packed for Fulton and the Region XXIII Tournament, the Wildcats made sure to bring an extra box — containing “championship gold” uniforms.

The tradition was started by Hall of Fame coach Jay Artigues back when his Wildcats won the region to head to the 2004 JUCO World Series.

Mississippi Outstanding Teen Jane Granberry brings home state title, prepares to compete at national level

Jane Granberry, a junior at Oak Grove High School, is still reeling from hearing her named called as Mississippi’s Outstanding Teen during competition finals Sunday afternoon at the Vicksburg Convention Center.

Granberry said upon hearing her named called, she immediately broke down into tears.

Jane Granberry, a junior at Oak Grove High School, was named Mississippi’s Outstanding Teen during final competition Sunday afternoon at the Vicksburg Convention Center. Thirty-five young women from across the state competed in the pageant with preliminary winners named nightly. She is the daughter of Bill and Hermine Granberry.
