Hogue returns to Petal

After resigning as the Southern Miss head softball coach Friday, Wendy Hogue is returning to Petal High School to head the softball program once again. The school board approved the hiring on Tuesday, and she’ll be introduced at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday inside the Petal Football Fieldhouse.

DiFATTA: Help the environment, take out a feral hog

A year or two ago my ol' buddy Chip Tatum, aka The Chipster, called to tell me he and some friends had killed a feral sow (that's a wild female hog). He asked if I wanted it, saying the hog would make for some fine eating, and offered to bring it to me. I gladly accepted … because I know wild pork is as tasty as a homegrown pig. .

Fourteen distinguished alumni of Hattiesburg’s city schools will be inducted into the inaugural HPSD Foundation Hall of Fame during a two-day event Oct. 4-5.

Inductees for the first-ever Hattiesburg Hall of Fame class come from the fields of business, politics, education, medicine, entertainment, journalism and sports.
