The 30-inch pizza is heading to the Hub City.
New Orleans-based purveyor of pies, Fat Boy’s Pizza, will open in spring 2021 at the former La Fiesta Brava on Highway 49 near Hardy Street. Hattiesburg will mark the fourth Fat Boy’s location.
“We can’t wait to introduce the Fat Boy’s brand to Hattiesburg,” owner Gabe Corchiani said. “Not only is our New York-style, thin crust pizza delicious, but it’s a unique conversation piece with a reputation that precedes it. We’ve had our eye on Hattiesburg for a while and can’t wait to feed that area and beyond.”
The flagship Fat Boy’s Pizza restaurant is in Metairie, Louisiana, and there are also locations in Covington, Louisiana, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. French Quarter and Mandeville locations are also scheduled to open this year.
Fat Boy’s Pizza, boasting the world’s biggest slices, is also known for its eye-popping 30-inch pies, delectable appetizers, full bar (including premium daiquiris that can be purchased by the gallon), pizza truck and serious commitment to the community.
Established in early 2019, Fat Boy’s Pizza quickly made its mark in the New Orleans area. In July 2019, Fat Boy’s hosted the first Pizza Eating Championship featuring world champion competitive eater Joey Chestnut and other top eaters. The competition was recognized nationally during the SportsCenter Top 10 on ESPN.
During the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic, Fat Boy’s donated and delivered more than a thousand pizzas to health care heroes working on the frontlines.
“We dive into any community we serve 100%,” Corchiani said. “We support each other in good times and bad. That’s the Fat Boy’s mindset. Hattiesburg residents and Southern Miss students are in for a treat. We’re happy to be in another great college town.”
