A project eight years in the making that will convert the former Hattiesburg High School building on Main Street into age-restricted apartments is about to get its start.

Petal Mayor Hal Marx says he misspoke when he said people who don’t pay their bills responsibly are mainly to blame for the upcoming increase in residents’ water and garbage bills.

Following his swearing in last Thursday night as the Lamar County School District’s newest board member, Reggie Townsend, looking quite at ease, took his seat alongside other representatives from across the district.

The automated touchdown machine, or “A-T-M”, has been pumping out touchdowns left and right for the Hattiesburg Tigers.

My earliest memories of music are from church, and I was especially fond of the heartfelt singing and enthusiastic gospel piano at the small country church in Hickory Grove, where my Mamaw and Papaw attended.

It was a big deal to ride the twenty miles from Sumrall to downtown Hattiesburg in Papaw's truck.
