Sumrall drops Game 3 to West Lauderdale Monday

COLLINSVILLE — Coming into the series West Lauderdale had the slight advantage pitching and Sumrall had a slight advantage hitting. 
Behind Hunter Eldridge and the late pitching of Mason Willis, the Knights got past Sumrall 4-2 at Jerry Boatner Field in the decisive Game 3 of the second round of the MHSAA Class 4A Baseball Playoffs.



Oak Grove sweeps Pearl

PEARL — All it took for Oak Grove was one big inning.

Behind a three-run fifth inning and the pitching of sophomore Luke Lyon the Warriors got past Pearl 5-1 to sweep the Pirates in the second round of the MHSAA Class 6A Baseball playoffs at Pirate Park on Saturday night.


Purvis continues to roll

FLORENCE — The revenge tour continues for Purvis.

Behind a big second quarter and a strong rushing attack, the Tornadoes ran past Florence 41-21 in the second round of the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs at Eagle Stadium on Friday night.

Purvis (6-6) will host Poplarville (12-0) next week in the third round of the Class 4A playoffs.



MRA runs past PCS

MADISON — In an unfamiliar situation, you kind of didn’t know what to expect.

Behind the running of Jake Reeves, MRA was able to run past PCS 42-23 in a key MAIS Class AAAA, Division I matchup at Patriot Field on Thursday night.
