H'Burg woman travels to Puerto Rico to help rebuild

On Saturday, Nicole Pearson of Hattiesburg stepped out of her comfort zone in a big way.

Having sold all of her household furnishings and a majority of her personal belongings, Pearson packed her car with the remaining things she wanted to keep and dropped it and her dog, Champ, off with friends and headed off on a new adventure.

Lewis Lights owners vow they will be back for 29th season

A holiday tradition for the past 28 years, Lewis Lights on White Chapel Road outside of Purvis has entertained thousands of visitors each holiday season. But because of Grinch-like thieves who vandalized the property earlier this week, the chance for lighting the way into another holiday season was placed in jeopardy.


HPSD focusing on positive elements throughout district

When the Mississippi Department of Education’s accountability model ratings came out in October, the Hattiesburg Public School District failed to improve upon its “D” grade, but it did increase its total points over last year’s results by 7.2 percent. And some of their schools improved their ratings. And that was something to be proud of.
