For the second straight season, the Lumberton Panthers will travel to a region opponent after winning the region championship. Last season it was Stringer, and this season it’s the Resurrection Catholic Eagles.

It’s going to take all Purvis has to beat the Poplarville Hornets in the 4A Quarterfinal matchup Friday, but at least the Tornadoes are coming off one of their most complete games of the season in the second round.

Sumrall soccer to get its own soccer facility


Sumrall’s basketball gymnasium is less than 10 years old, the Lady Bobcats’ softball complex just completed its second year in use and Larry Knight Field is one of the nicest baseball fields in the area, and now it’s the Sumrall soccer program’s turn to call something its own.

Cooper tabbed to lead Purvis basketball


When Purvis basketball makes its annual trip up Highway 589 to play Sumrall next season, it’ll be a familiar setting for new Tornadoes head coach Eric Cooper. However, the four-year letterman at Sumrall will be on the visiting bench.
