1) What is the circulation of your publications?

Our publications reach in excess of 50,000 people per month.

The Lamar Times is a paid circulation weekly newspaper published each and every Thursday, 52 times a year. It is the official newspaper of Lamar County, Mississippi and the surrounding area including the communities of Oak Grove, Sumrall, Purvis, and Lumberton.

The Petal News is a paid circulation weekly newspaper published on Thursdays for the residents of Petal, Mississippi and the surrounding area.

Signature Magazine is a glossy magazine published monthly featuring society news, feature stories, columns, recipies, and more.

Camp Shelby Reveille is published every-other Friday for the soldiers and support personnel of the United States Army’s Joint Forces Training Center. The award-winning publication is the only newspaper distributed on post.

Our news publications are mailed to subscribers through the U.S. Postal Service and arrives at homes on Thursday with the regular mail. Signature Magazine is distributed through mail subscriptions and free distribution racks throughout the Pine Belt.


2) How often do you publish?

The Lamar Times and The Petal News are published once a week on Thursdays and Signature Magazine is published once a month. The magazine is on glossy coated paper. The newspaper is on newsprint. Reveille is published on an every-other-week basis.


3) What is the circulation area of your publications?

Our target area is the greater Hattiesburg area of Forrest, Lamar and Perry counties. As of the 2000 census, our coverage area includes a population of 123,812, although a July 2008 estimate placed the population at 140,781. Greater Hattiesburg is the second fastest-growing area in Mississippi. The Lamar Times services primarily the Lamar County communities of Oak Grove, Purvis, Sumrall, and Lumberton while The Petal News is the newspaper of record for Petal in Forrest County. Our Signature publications cross all boundaries targeting readers in both communities as well as Hattiesburg itself.


4) How do I submit news to your publications?

We love submitted news. We are a community newspaper. You can mail us at 103 N. 40th Ave., Hattiesburg, MS 39401. You can visit our offices on North 40th Ave. just north of Hardy Street on the way to the Grand Theatre. You can fax us at 601-268-2965 or e-mail us at beth@hubcityspokes.com. Or you can visit our submissions page. Please identify all people in the photos. We actively seek your weddings, engagement party photos, letters to the editor, births, club reports--you name it. We are a community newspaper and what we do is local, community news. We do not run national or international wire service stories. We have staff writers who actively seek story ideas from readers. Remember, priority is given to photos published exclusively in our publications so if that's the case, please be sure to tell us.


5) How do I place an ad in your publications?

Just call one of our three full-time advertising sales representatives. Tell us what you want and our talented production staff will design the ad for you in no time. There is no charge for our expert ad design and composition.


6) What's the cost of advertising in your publications?

The page sizes of our newspapers are 10.25 inches wide and 16 inches deep. Our rates vary greatly based on contract rates and various frequency discounts (see our rate card on our web site). Typically, ads cost less than one penny per reader.


7) How do I subscribe?

Just call Sonya at 601-268-2331 or email her at sonya@hubcityspokes.com. Annual subscriptions to The Lamar Times or The Petal News are only $25 or you can buy two years for just $40. An annual subscription to Signature Magazine is just $20 per year.


8) Do your publications include classified ads?

Yes we do and our rates are very reasonable - and under certain circumstances can even be free. Call us at our main number 601-268-2331 to place an ad.


9) What are you business hours?

We are open from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.


10) Where are your publications printed?

The pages are designed and composed at our offices in Hattiesburg. They are then sent electronically to our printing plant at our sister newspaper, The Enterprise-Journal in McComb, Mississippi. The McComb press is a combination of color Web Press Quad Stacks and black and white News Kings. We use state-of-the-art computer-to-plate technology using a Basys platesetter and FM screening.


12) What are the politics of your publications?

We are neither liberal nor conservative. We believe in the open exchange of as many ideas as possible. We believe in the marketplace of ideas. We love to get fresh opinions from all sides of the political spectrum - including yours.
