School district announces menu for summer feeding program
Petal School District is working to help reduce hunger in the Friendly City by launching the Summer Food Service Program.
The summer feeding program helps provide nutritious meals to preschool and school-age children throughout the summer vacation.
Over the past 10 years, the program has grown from one school site serving breakfast and lunch for the month of June to three school sites offering breakfast and lunch with an additional site serving dinner.
Petal Middle and High Schools will offer breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. beginning June 1.
Petal Upper Elementary will offer dinner from 4:30 to 6 p.m. beginning June 1.
The Petal Middle School and Petal High School locations will serve sausage or chicken biscuits, cereal, poptarts or cereal bars for breakfast each day.
The lunch menus are listed below for the following week.
The meals are based on USDA nutrition guidelines. No application or proof of income necessary.
Meals are free for children 18 and younger and $3 for adults.
