Petal Girl Scout troops taking bite out of cookie sales

Don’t think that Girls Scouts are just about cookie sales. In Petal, troops have held everything from coat drives to tree plantings and one local troop, Troop 3890, is in the process of helping restore the Petal Dog Park, which was destroyed in the January 2017 tornado. They also have plans to establish a Little Free Library at the site.


Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church looks to future

The past few years, and the last year especially, have certainly warranted some unfortunate circumstances for Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church. However, things are looking up.

Less than a year after reopening its doors following the tornado in 2013, the church suffered extensive damage from the tornado in January 2017.

A 1,000-point club member, Hudson signs with PRCC

PURVIS – Senior Kennedy Hudson joined rare company earlier this season by eclipsing the 1,000-point club in her Lady Tornadoes career, but her final five points were a little tougher to get than the first 995.

“(Joining the 1,000-point club) showed that the hard work over the past three years had paid off,” Hudson said.
