On this week’s episode of The PineBeltSPORTS Podcast, we have plenty of postgame reaction from both Florida State and Southern Miss coaches and players.
On this week’s episode of The PineBeltSPORTS Podcast, Southern Miss bowl preparation, the early signing period and the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game are the talking points.
HATTIESBURG – It hasn’t happened since 1967, but redshirt senior Kelsey Douglas did it Saturday afternoon against the Charlotte 49ers. Douglas returned two interceptions for touchdowns in a 66-21 win for the Golden Eagles, and the last time that happened for USM was Nov. 11, 1967, against Louisiana Tech.
HATTIESBURG – The Southern Miss Golden Eagles are eight games into the season, with a 5-3 overall record and 3-2 in Conference USA, and they’re still in the exact same position they were once Nick Mullens took his final snap in a Golden Eagles’ uniform.
Southern Miss is still without a known starting quarterback.
HATTIESBURG – Sometimes in life, bad days happen. It’s that way for football, too, and Southern Miss coach Jay Hopson is using that mantra after Saturday’s 30-12 loss to UAB.
“It’s just like life,” Hopson said. “Sometimes you have those bad days and you have to get over them and move on. That’s kind of what we have to do now.”
The Southern Miss football team pulled off a remarkable, thrilling come-from-behind Conference USA victory over Louisiana Tech last weekend.
Trailing by 11 points with 1:23 to play in regulation, the finish was about as exciting as could be.
Southern Miss rides a two-game win streak headed into Saturday night’s Conference USA football game against Louisiana Tech at Ruston, La.
The Golden Eagles defeated UTEP 24-0 last week and beat UTSA 31-29 the week prior.
